I was born, educated, and married in New Mexico. I set out to be an electrical engineer but learned that my study ethic wasn t up to it. While in school at New Mexico State University , I spent eight months in American Samoa on a co-op program, and I worked summers at a mine near Carlsbad, NM. I graduated with a degree in geography and intentions of being a city planner. However, my first job after college was drafting underground mining trucks, and I have mostly done mechanical engineering since then. For the past quarter century, I have worked in nuclear power.
That's the day job. I write for fun and have had four books published:
Heavens to Louie (OakTara), contemporary fiction
Count Otto s Dragon (OakTara), Medieval fiction
Mary in Transit (OakTara), historical fiction
Dead Aggies Don t Drive Trains , Southwestern whodunit
Since 1979, my wife Lois and I have lived in a century old house in South Haven, Michigan. We have five grown children and a growing supply of grandchildren.
In addition to engineering and writing, I have served on the local planning commission, city council, and church board; play clarinet in a community band; and enjoy photography and woodworking. I have been in 48 states and 7 nations so far. Lois and I travel by train when we can.
