Now I remember why I stopped using Shelfari.
1) I can't search my book shelf. I haven't added half of my books and I can't find anything -- and the main thing I wanted an online bookshelf for was to organize my books.
2) The books imported from my purchases at Amazon don't even show up correctly by author in the default search (e.g. I have all of the Loeb editions of Aeschylus, the Oxford edition of the Aeschylus in Greek, the Cambridge edition of Prometheus Bound, and many different translations of Aeschylus. They either don't show up or worse -- see 3)
3) I read a lot of Ancient Greek poets and playrights, for example. All editions of them are put together into one basket and treated as equal by Shelfari. When I click on the cover for my Cambrdge Aeschylus I'm taken to a page that says that it's the Robert Lowell adaptation. Under the Lowell adaptation are may different covers and a single review which is supposed to cover all covers.
Ach, this is worse than useless. It not only provides zero information, but it misleads and obfuscates.
4) I can't export my books to a list I can actually use. I'm told that I have to complete my profile to 80%. Well, I tried. I added groups. I followed people who are listed as being like me (they aren't, of course, but I don't expect people to be like me). I added details to books. I edited a couple. I even invited people from my gmail contact list. After a couple of edits, though, I ran into the issues in 2) and 3), so I gave up and I'm not going to waste my time further.
And it still won't let me export.
