First she will need some help. She tracks down Michael, a friend of Joe’s that is fighting in the war.

Children of the Underground is the second book in the Children of Paranoia series. I absolutely loved the first book, Children of Paranoia. So I was really amped to read the second book. While I was not in love with this book I still enjoyed reading this book. The way this series is developing as the war rages on is really exciting.

I got to know more about the each side and why and what they were fighting for. Maria became a front runner in this book. She was strong and became a fighter. I have a warning “ Don’t mess with a mother and her child.” The excitement level was high however it did start out a little slow for me. Some of this might have had to do with I had to re-familiarize myself with this series. I read the short sneak peek to the third book, Children of the Uprising and I have to say I can not wait to read about Christopher.

When livestock in the UK starts to literally bite back, everyone is screwed!

Terry thought his biggest problem was the constant smell of meat that lingered on him thanks to his job at McTavish & Sons, a slaughterhouse located just outside of Glasgow. But when the cows fight back one afternoon, Terry finds himself at the center of a massive conspiracy. He wakes after the event to find that he's survived but is now being held prisoner by one of the men behind the virus that's infected the beasts.

Geldof is one of those teens who can't seem to catch a break. On top of all the usual teen problems, his parents are weird - mom's a militant vegan and dad's a huge pot head who's rarely sober enough to know what's going on. Then Geldof narrowly escapes his own cow attack. Now the neighbors are holed up in his house with his own family trying to survive the cowpocalypse - awkward considering he's had a crush on his math teacher and neighbor for ages!

Lesley is a reporter who's just been sacked. Just before she goes, she lands a big scoop but before she can act, she too is taken prisoner by the same folks who've captured Terry. Together they manage to escape and also make their way to Geldof's family home, but they'll all have to survive long enough to break the story.

So it turns out it's not just the cows that these characters have to worry about. It's all the animals! There are dog attacks, swine attacks, even crazy squirrel attacks across the continent. And they aren't just super violent out to eat you attacks, turns out the virus kind of makes the animals horny. Yeah. This is another wildly inappropriately hilarious read.

If you're not a fan of gore, sick and twisted content, and jokes at the expense of just about everyone, then this is definitely not the book for you. If you do like those things, Apocalypse Cow should pretty much top your must read list! And given this is Logan's debut, I really can't wait to see what he does next.

Dikeledi’s sister Lesego has not come home from school. It has been hours. Dikeledi fears something has happened to her sister. She tries to get the police to search for her but they think that Lesego is a runaway. No one takes an interest until another girl goes missing and her father gets involved.

Detective Kudu and his new partner, Samantha Khama investigate the disappearances of the two girls. What they find is a witch doctor that is making muti out of human remains.

Deadly Harvest is my first introduction to a detective Kubu mystery and the writing duo of Michael Sears and Stanley Trollip as Michael Stanley. I have to say that after reading this book I am very impressed by this duo. This book was way better then I thought it would be. Mr. Sears and Mr. Trollip have developed a good formula for their writing. I could not tell where one left off and the other one began.

I like detective Kubu. However another person I was drawn to was his new partner, Samantha. Samantha helped to bring the human aspect to this story. Whereas Kubu was the more level headed one and could bring good insight with his experience as well.

The storyline featured in this book was scary. I can picture this exact situation still happening in some parts of the world. Thus this is another reason why I was so intrigued in reading this book. Don’t let your chance slip away without reading Deadly Harvest!

Helen and Rachel McCallister are sisters. They only have each other now that their parents are gone. For years Helen has been jealous of Rachel and her beauty. Due to Rachel’s blindness, she can not tell any different what Helen is telling her when she tells Rachel that she is ugly. Helen’s lies grow when she creates this world around Roam filled with flesh eating birds and other monsters. However Helen could never know what her story was actually doing to Rachel until Rachel makes an announcement that will change both of their lives.

I was curious about this book. I thought I would give it a chance. Wow, I am so glad that I did. I almost missed out on a great book. I found myself not reading this book fast enough. What with life getting in the way!

I can not imagine depending on someone like Helen. She was so bitter towards Rachel. However I am glad that as the story went on Helen did turn a new leaf and became a better person and one that I actually liked. Due to Helen’s meanness towards Rachel I instantly liked Rachel.

There are two stories happening in this book. There is the one involving Rachel and Helen and then there is the other one involving Elijah and his slave Ming Kai. This story was just as captivating. It was fascinating to get to learn how Roam was discovered and got to be the place it was. The Kings and Queens of Roam is a book not to be missed! It is filled with lots of wonderful characters and a magical place.

Dani Keller's husband is gone. She woke up to find his side of the bed empty. At first, she thought he'd simply run out for coffee. As time passed, she thought maybe he'd run into a friend or been held up in some way. By that afternoon, she knows something is wrong. She finds his car still parked nearby and nothing is missing except his phone, his wallet, and the clothes he was wearing the night before. No one has seen him or heard from him. Days go by without word and the police are stumped. Has Ian had an accident or has he simply left her?

I have really mixed feelings about this one! HE'S GONE is a great read. Deb Caletti's writing - especially where her characters are concerned - is excellent. Really top notch! The complexities of relationships, the heartwrenching journey Dani takes emotionally as she faces the fact that her husband is gone, and the mystery as to his fate pull the reader along in a way that makes it impossible to put this book down. But man is it a downer! Holy moly! I really found myself dreading getting to the end of this one.

There's a definite ominous tone to the book, in my opinion. And honestly, I had considered what turns out to be the truth about Ian's disappearance early on. I was never quite sure if I'd figured it out, though.

Anyway, a great read but one you probably should prepare yourself for emotionally.

Best friends Kate, Vanessa, and Dani haven't gotten together in ages. They were supposed to be partying in Vegas to celebrate Kate's upcoming wedding, but now the groom has walked and it looks like the whole thing is off. As Kate struggles with her broken relationship and the discovery that she's pregnant, Vanessa has marriage issues of her own. And Dani, well... she's just been fired, again. It's Dani who suggests that the three of them keep their trip plans but move it to the Jersey Shore instead. It'll be a great chance for each of them to take a break and spend time together. But it'll also be the first time they've returned as a group to the place Kate's twin died so many years ago - an event none of them has truly recovered from and one they've all been keeping their own secrets about.

After Donohue's How To Eat a Cupcake, I kind of expected something a little lighter in tone than All the Summer Girls. This is not to say that her debut was all that light and fluffy - I mentioned in my review of that one that I found it had quite a bit of welcome substance, but still, All the Summer Girls was definitely heavier in tone.

While I found I could easily sympathize with each of the characters at times, I also found that there were moments when I didn't completely like any of them. It's hard to be too critical of that considering it's all the lumps and bumps - or in this case personality quirks - that make the characters seem real. It was that lack of connection, though, paired with the weightiness of the book (and the fact that I'd read this one and He's Gone one right after another) that turned me off of this one a bit. I have to say this was a downer of a weekend in terms of reading!

Like He's Gone it was still a good read and one that I've no doubt lots of folks will enjoy. It was certainly bad timing on my part, though!

In Only Human, Rose, Jack, and the Doctor end up traveling to Bromley in 2005 to investigate evidence of a temporal distortion. They arrive in time to rescue a Neanderthal named Das who's just about to be taken into military custody. Considering Neanderthals have been extinct for 28,000 years it's obvious the man is connected to the time rip. But how did a Neanderthal travel from a time with no time travel technology to present day England? The Doctor and Rose set off to find out while Jack is left with the task of helping Das learn to live in present-day London.

Oh, this was so much fun! I haven't actually read any of the novel tie-ins to the series before and I was happy to discover that it was exactly like "watching" a new Doctor Who adventure. And since Saturday was the last episode until November, it was a welcome experience indeed!

Dr. Spencer Black was a good doctor. His colleagues all respect him. That is until Dr. Black started his own experiments. This book is about Dr. Black and his experiments all the way leading up to his disappearance. In this book are all the pictures of the creatures that Dr. Black was researching.

This book is creepy but memorizing at the same time. It was like I was really reading the journal of a mad but brilliant man. I say brilliant because Dr. Black although he may have turned into a monster in the name of science he still was trying to further investigate and research all that science had to offer.

When Dr. Black started creating his own blend of monsters in his lab and the results that was scary. However I was also intrigued by them as well. As you can tell I can not say enough great things about this book. This book needs to be turned into both a big screen movie and television series. Mr. Hudspeth holds nothing back with his first book. I anxiety await his next book. The Resurrectionist is a must read and probably one of the best books I have read in 2013! Don’t walk but run to the bookstore or type as fast as you can online to pick up a copy of this book today.

Schuyler Hunt had planned a trip for him and his wife until it turned into a girl’s weekend. Now Schuyler is left wondering what to do with his free time. Schuyler sees an ad on the internet for a cottage called Angel’s Gate in God’s county. Schuyler thinks this might be the perfect place to retire in so that their grandchildren can visit. Schuyler decides to take a look at the cottage while the girls are off to play. Once at Angel’s Gate Schuyler will get an life changing event.

Right away when you read this book you will see some similarities with The Shack by Mr. William P. Young. However while each book takes a man and has him speaking with God in a shack or cottage in this case and teaches him lessons that is where the commonality ends.

In this book Schuyler also is visited by old friends that have since passed but have important lessons to teach Schuyler. The lessons are the following: Choices, Perseverance, Questions, Encouragement, Priorities, Self-examination, Forgiveness, Potential, Hope, Limitations, Evil, and Communion. While I did enjoy reading this book, it did not have as strong a lasting impression as the Shack did. Still The Gate is a good first novel by Mr. Stouten.
