Mofu! So good to see you at fiction effect. It warms my heart. We've carved out a niche for ourselves with our focus on small and university presses. Let me know if something strikes your fancy and you want to discuss and/or if there are things that don't fall within the parameters, as described. There may definitely be some cases where I'll want to make an exception. Take much care and have fun.

Fiction effect is an expansion of fc2 and will include works of this press as well as titles from other small presses. We'll be talking about experimental, avant garde literature and would love to have you join us. Make the switch soon, though, as I'm shutting down fc2.
    Thanks Mofu.

Hey Mofu. I'm posting publicly again, but that's only to say I'm interested in starting a group that reads avant garde fiction. At present, I'm thinking about concentrating on the fun stuff published by fc2. Check out their website. I think you might enjoy it, and maybe friends will too. I'll get back to you.

I want it to be public record that I have apologized to Mofu for the comment I made about his picture and was only talking about that wonderful look in his eyes, and not the beard. Many greats have beards, have had beards. It is a great, great tradition.
Thank you, Mofu, for taking it in stride.

thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed recommendation. i would like to read each and every one of them given time. since they seem to be the likeliest to find i'm probably going to check out Lathe of Heaven and Fear and Loathing (it's convenient for me that i haven't seen the movie)I'm doubtful that i will be able to find Confederacy of Dunces in a Barnes and Noble. Strange Pilgrims looks interesting, but may be too much of a gamble for my purposes. Have you read Brave New World or Clockwork Orange? A teacher of mine recommended Eat Pray Love. I'm goin book crazy... always do this to myself before i go to the beach.

so you have many books that i have either read and LOVED...or really wanted to read. I'm again going to the beach and am in need of your professional recommendation. i've been considering Fear and Loathing and Next (but only if it's more captivating than State of Fear) any other thoughts? And how did you like Rant? i loved it personally, though by the end i felt like a lot of the plot had become ambiguous and i'd like to re-read it and make sure i didn't miss anything.
    looking forward to your reply,
    Beau

I hope you are OK that I teased you about your pic. I think it's hilarious. I considered putting one up in which I wore no make-up, then chickened out.

Wow, Mofu. Interesting pic. I can recommend a drug for that (I take a few myself). Your group - a novel of short stories - sounds nice. I haven't read Marquez yet but want to. Also looking for a short story group. Stop by my profile.

I noticed that you've joined the Native Issues group. We are small in size at this point, and I know that the first book we're considering is The Way of the Human Being by Calvin Luther Martin. If you have any recommendations the group should consider, please add that to the discussion. Welcome!
