Bodrugan

During my many years of reading, I have seen lots of books come and go, but the ones I am cataloguing here are the ones that mean something to me in some way. I have read nearly all of them at least once, many of them twice, and some multiple times, such as To Kill a Mockingbird which I've read more than fifty times.

Thanks for the note about House on the Strand. I find it hard to put into words how a book really gets into my head. I have a friend who quits reading when she finds she does not like the characters. I would have missed a lot of good stories I think. I think right now a cozy is in order.

:) If you ever find the answer, let me know. I have two groups with 300 or more members, and at the most, only 20 people who consistently post! Oh well, we have fun. Just seems it could be more fun with people participating.

Heh, heh, I'm not a lurker, but as a fellow administrator, I am anxiously watching that discussion thread in DduM. :) I didn't respond there because I was afraid it would scare them away if they were considering posting. ;)

I have many friends in the New Orleans area whose homes were destroyed. Most decided to returned to the area. One friend just moved into her newly renovated home just two months ago. The pictures from the storm are just devastating. I am glad that NPR continues to run stories periodically about the storms, because it is so easy for the rest of the country to say "that happened so long ago, let's move on." The impact will be felt throughout the country for years.

I am glad to hear that you are okay and your home wasn't totally destroyed. Let's hope that this year's hurricane season is a mild one for all areas that might be affected.

Do you, or did you live in Louisiana? I see you have a number of books about Louisiana? Did either Hurricane Katrina or Rita affect you? If so, are you back in your home now?

The Hazel Holt mysteries are definitely cozies. If you have time for a Barbara Pym try The Quartet in Autumn. I find something new everytime I read it. I don't know why I've read it more than once but I have. I gave that little cookery book to my daughter some years ago. She loves things British.

Bodrugan, I have been reading the Mrs. Malory mysteries by Hazel Holt. Even got up the nerve to start a discussion on the Barbara Pym group. Tell me if you are a Pym fan. I am enjoying the thread about DuMaurier is to Cornwall. We do have a lot of books in common, of course you have a lot of books, that makes a lot of difference.

Oh, thank you Bodrugan! That is so sweet.

If you knew Bella, you'd know why I dragged myself up to get her. She is such a little clown.

I wish I was doing better, but the pain continues to be staggering. I have not slept through the night since the day I fell, March 30. I still can't drive. I am so worn out from the whole thing.

But I'm so glad you visited my blog!! Before I got hurt I was having so much fun with it. Please come again!

    Be well,
    Marie

I don't think I have read a lot of fiction about Hawaii except the James Michener. I lived there in 1959 through 1961 and have a lot of interest in it. It is a rich but sad history. Thanks for the expanation about the three-deep thing. I didn't know that.
And it did make sense. Kay C

Do I qualify even if I've only read two Du Mauriers? How many did she write, anyway? I know I've got another one sitting upstairs I haven't read yet (My Cousin Rachel I think).

Thanks for the note. I can't believe I haven't put Daphne on my shelf. I remember reading The Glassblowers when I was pregnant with my youngest and that was 45 years ago. Jamaica Inn I reread recently. I think she is one of the best.

I'm glad you started the new group. I loved Rebecca and would like to read other of her books. I noticed you added Raintree County to your list. I remember loving that book many years ago and I am going to run right out and put it on my TBR list!

At first I didn't like the "Recent Activity" section, but I am finding great books there now on my friend's pages.

I have two sons also. One is 26 and the other is almost 23.
