Current interests: Greek and Roman civilization, German philosophy (Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Heidegger), Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Africa and the Middle East (history and travel), Modern Standard Arabic (I'm trying to acquire a rudimentary grasp of the language), military history, math, camels. I have the odd habit of reading reference books and travel guides cover to cover. All of the books on my shelf have been read from start to finish. Skimming offends my neurotic need for order and completeness. « less
