I really love my Sony Reader Touch. The only problem is the initial price, because you must buy a good, sturdy cover for it (M-Edge covers are the best!), and I use a book light attachment at night. I would also suggest buying a screen cover for it's protection from scratches/bumps and also it can help remove some glare. That all will add up to over $400 american money..and shipping to India, I'm not sure about that! The Sony Reader Touch reads GREAT in the sunlight. It has a stylus which is fantastic for highlighting quotes from a book for later use, making notes, etc!
The Barnes and Noble Nook is a very strong competitor. I suggest you browse these forums http://www.mobileread.com/forums/ they can answer all of your questions there more than I could!
