Hi Amber, it's always nice to hear from you. I'm pleased to hear that you are a fan of Fringe - do you watch The Mentalist as well by any chance? I've recently seen the first two seasons back to back and am addicted.

Rachel Vincent's Shifter series is a fabulous series Amber. The books went from strength to strength as the series progressed. All of the characters were appealing but it's the growth of Faythe's character throughout the books that was a joy for me to read. She goes through so much heartache and loss but is stronger for it if you know what I mean. I love to read about strong female characters. Please let me know when you get the chance to read the other installments. I'm a huge fan of Ethan and Jace and am looking forward to hearing your views on them.

I've never read a book by Lisa Gardner but will certainly look her up now that you've recommended her books. I've added The Replacement" by Brenna Yovanoff though as it sounds good so thanks for recommending it. I haven't heard of Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen either or that Robert Pattinson is the star of the new film. I'll have to check that one out too.

I've recently read Lauren Kate's Fallen series and am now reading Adrian Phoenix's The Makers Song series - have you read them by any chance? I would certainly recommend the latter if you havent.

Anyway it's been great catching up with you Amber, if you see Rob Pattinsons film before I do, then please let me know your thoughts. Take care mate, bye xx

Hi Amber, it's so nice to hear from you! I completely understand how hectic life can get at times and hobbies like reading and Shelfari have to take a back seat. I go through stages where I'm able to do lots of reading and then something crops up and my books and my reading end up suffering. I'm glad to hear you are well though and that you've managed to squeeze a bit of reading in regardless. The books you mentioned sound good - I keep meaning to watch episodes of Dexter as I've heard great things about it. Unfortunately they are currently showing season 4 in the UK and I want to catch it from the beginning. I'm a huge fan of Fringe - have you ever watched it? Brilliant show.

I'm currently reading Rachel Vincent's Shifter series which are quite good. Have you read them? I'm on the 2nd book but the first book 'Stray' was a good introduction to the series which consists of 6 books. I recently read the Darke Academy series and quite enjoyed them. I loved Rook Hastings' Wierdsville series which was wonderfully creepy in places and something I'd definately recommend. The characters really stood out for me. Meg Cabot's The Mediator series, Eden Maguire's Beautiful Dead, Michelle Zink's Prophecy Of The Sisters and Christopher Pike's The Last Vampire series were worthwhile reads too. If you'd like a bit more info on any of these titles Amber then please let me know.

Let me know how you get on with Mr Monster. I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future. Take care friend. Bye xx

Hi Amber, it's always nice to hear from you. I totally understand that it's not easy juggling work with reading as well as Shelfari so I don't mind waiting in between notes. It's just nice to be able to update each other on what we've been reading and recommend new books once in a while.

I totally agree with your analysis of the Darkest Powers trilogy as well as the Evernight series. I'm looking forward to the release of the fourth installment in the latter. I'm intrigued by your decription of Jeanne C Stien's Anna Strong series as it sounds like my cup of tea so to speak. I shall definately check it out after my note.

September for me consisited of a marathon of books by the author L J Smith. I read the The Forbidden Games, the Dark Visions trilogy and all three volumes of her Night World series. Lats week I read the first two books in the Drake Chronicles by Alyxandra Harvey called My Love Lies Bleeding and Blood Feud. Have you heard of them? Yesterday I read By Midnight By Mia James although I wasn't much for this one.

I'm contemplating reading either the Darke Academy series by Gabriella Poole or Scott Westerfeld's Midnighters series. Have you read any of these? Anyway let me know how you get on with the Anna Strong series Amber. Take care. Bye!

Hi Amber, I enjoyed the Darkest Powers trilogy too. I'm glad that the characters weren't killed off. I know Tori was annoying in the first two books but I warmed up to her in the end. It's a shame Kelley Armstrong won't be using the same characters in her new follow up of her Darkest Powers trilogy The gathering. I would have liked to know what the future held for them. We never got to see Tori and Simon's reaction to learning they were siblings for example.

I've just finished the first book in the Evernight series and know exactly what you mean about there being surprises throughout the book. I got it in my head that Lucas was a vampire and when it turned out that Bianca was one I thought, 'Sheesh!' I've started Stargazer this morning.

I purchased The Forbidden Games as a three in 1 book so I plan to read the trilogy in all it's glory after I've finished the Evernight series. I skimmed through the first book in the Strange Angels series Amber but for some reason I can't fathom, I couldn't get into it. I don't think I gave it a decent chance to tell you the truth. Do the second and third books get better then? I think I shall have to give them another go.

Anyway take care Amber, great chatting to you as always! Bye!

I've finished my Julia Quinn phase for now and quite enjoyed a couple of them. I've just re read the first two books in the Darkest Powers trilogy to recap my memory for The Reckoning which I started this morning. I've understood the series better the second time around. have you read it?

I'm planning to read either the Evernight series, The Forbidden Games trilogy ir the Darkest Visions series next - have you read any of these? Anyway take care Amber, chat soon I hope, Bye!

Hi Amber, I've been busy too as I've had family over from Norway. I've been having withdrawal symptoms from Shelfari so it's nice to be back now. I've managed to get a copy of Dead In The Family from the library so hopefully we can compare notes. I love Eric too but fely sorry for Bill at the end of Dead And Gone as he almost died saving Sookie from the fae. It's been a great series though Amber. The author never seemed to run out on ideas which must be very challenging after ten books.

I've been reading a couple of books by James Patterson. They include Suzanne's Diary For Nicholas (a tearjerker) Sam's Letters To Jennifer and Sundays At Tiffany's. I have a soft spot for Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas. I read it in one sitting along with (almost) a whole box of tissues ;) I'm a sucker for tearjerkers.

I'm going through a regency romance phase and am reading Julia Quinn's 20 odd book series. Have you read any of her books? What are you reading at the moment? It's been so difficult to get away from my vampire books. I've got loads still lined up - Claudia Gray's Evernight series, the BDB series, Christopher Pike's The Last Vampire series to name a few. I'm determined to try other genre's though so I can chat to my fellow Shelfarians about other books rather than vampires all the time. (I think alot of my regulars were getting exasperated with me!)

What are you reading at the moment Amber?

Hi Amber, I'm so pleased you've read the Sookie books too. I've just finished the fourth book, Dead To The World, in which hunky Eric had his memory wiped by a coven of witches and Sookie finally gives in to her attraction to him. I must say I have quite a soft spot for Eric in comparison to Bill. Sookie's life certainly seems to have become complicated in the space of only four books. Firstly she shacks up with Bill having previously been unaware of Sam's feelings for her. Eric falls for her charms as well as the werewolf Alcide (who incidently seems to be her other half if only he'd do away with that awful Debbie.) Now she has the leader of the Weres of Hotspot competing for her attentions too! [br/][br/]I've seen the 1st season of True Blood albeit with my mouth gaping open over the explicit sexual content. I'm really enjoying the books though and it's nice to be able to picture the characters after having seen them in the show. Eric in particular is extremely hot hot hot! :P[br/][br/]I will definately let you know how I get on with the two James Patterson books. I've also got Sunday's At Tiffanys too. I'm aware of his other thrillers/mystery books but haven't read them as yet. Nicholas Sparks sounds like a great author too so I'm looking forward to reading some of his work too. I understand some of his books have recently been made into films?[br/][br/]I read Strange Angels last year but haven't read Betrayal yet. Is it any good? What are the Cassandra Clare series about? Anyway keep in touch Amber. Take care Bye!

Hi Amber, it's lovely to hear from you again. I completely understand what it's like to have family over as it's hard to find time for books and Shelfari. I'm behind on my target for May as I had family from abroad for a week and I still haven't caught up.

I'm so pleased you've been reading the Morganville books. I love this series particularly Myrnin and Amelia. I like Amelia when she shows her softer side lol. I'm looking forward to comparing notes with you when I get round to reading the Black Dagger series. Thank you for explaining the Lord's of the Underworld. They really sound good and I'm going to add them to my wishlist.

The Blue Bloods were quite good Amber. They are a different take on the vampire myth (one can never have too many of those!) whereby the vampires are Fallen Angels who rebelled against God and fell with Lucifer and are now condemned to an eternal (but not immortal) cycle of reincarnation as they search for the key to their redemption. So in other words when Blue Bloods come to the end of their life cycle, they are reincarnated into a new form and usually recall all of their past lives once they are fully awakened to their powers.

The Blue Bloods consist of New York's most elite familes and the first book introduces us to a collection of high school students who attend the exclusive Duschene academy, training grounds for the youngest members of the Blue Blood society who are just beginning to come into their powers and memories. Below is a synopsis of the first book:

Schuyler Van Alen is a freshman at the prestigious Duchesne School. A loner by nature, she finds her life thrown into turmoil when she turns 15. Suddenly she is allergic to the sun, craves raw food, and if she cuts herself, her blood is blue. Schuyler has no idea what is happening to her. As more and more curious things happen, Schuyler must confront her family and friends to discover the truth behind her blue blood. But there are bigger problems soon to be faced. When a girl in school is found dead, with mysterious bite marks on her neck, Schuyler is more confused than ever about her heritage…and her destiny.

I look forward to comparing notes on them when you have a chance to read them. I'm currently reading the Vampire Academy series. I like them even more than the Blue Bloods in some ways. Have you read them? I'm on the third book Shadow Kiss.

I read the first two books in the Darkest Powers trilogy last year but haven't got The Reckoning yet. I'm goin to have to read the first two again before I read the last one as it's been a year now. I'm glad you say the Reckoning was good though. I'm a Chloe and Derek fan, so I hope they will get together at the end.

Burned sounds intriguing from your description. I'm going to have to re read this series from the beginning Amber as despite owning all the books to date, I've yet to read Tempted and Burned. I completely get how hard the books can be to put down. I read both the HoN and the Morganville books in record time! Let me know what you plan to read next won't you. take care Amber, Bye!

Hi Amber, hope you are well. Thank you for your facebook invite. I'd love to take you up on your offer and have sent you a facebook invite.

I smiled over your remark about spending half your paycheck on books. I can picture me doing exactly the same. I went online and bought seven books in one go. I bought the four books in the Blue Bloods series (have you read them?) Kiss Of Death (Morganville Vampires bk8) Vampire Diaries The Return: Shadow Souls and Burned too as the hardback copy was going half price. Let me know how you get on with Burned won't you?

I've recently read the first two books of the Blue Bloods and am waiting for my books to arrive before I read books 3 and 4. While I wait I've started the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Have you read any of these books Amber? I'm going to have to buy the latter series.

How are you getting on with stephen King's IT? Have you heard of Barb Hendee's Vampire Memories series? Let me know and I will tell you what they are about. What the heck I'll tell you now (chuckle)

    Book 1 Blood Memories
Vampires have lived among Mankind for countless millenia, hiding in the darkness, hunting, feeding and killing Mortals. They live lives of utter secrecy, scattered far apart, always aware that the surging tide of Humanity could crush them if they became truly aware of their presence. For Eleisha, a young vampire who has remained hidden since the 19th Century, things are about to change.
Eleisha Clevon has the face of a teen angel, but she is no angel. Unlike most vampires, she doesn't like to kill, but self-preservation comes first. When an old friend destroys himself by walking into sunlight right in front of her, Eleisha is shocked. And what she finds afterward points to how very sick of his existence he had become — piling drained corpses in the basement and keeping records of other vampires' real names and addresses. Because now, there are policemen on the case: two very special humans with some gifts of their own. They know who Eleisha is, and, even more dangerous, what she is.

    Book 2 Hunting Memories
Eleisha Clevon has begun a correspondence with fellow vampire Rose de Spenser. Both reluctant predators, they venture outside only when the hunger becomes unbearable, trying not to draw attention to themselves-and feel guilty when ending human lives. But Eleisha has learned a way to draw blood from her victims without killing them. She wants to share this knowledge with like-minded vampires and create a haven where they can exist together-and forge a united front against Julian Ashton, a vampire who has been hunting down and destroying his own kind...

The third book is out in October. You would think that the vampire myth had been exhausted by now Samantha but these books have different take on the vampire legend.

    1. Whenever a vampire kills a human and drains their life force - they see images of the human's life as they are drinking from them.
    2. When a vampire dies, their sire feels pain.

Anyway take care Amber and chat to you soon I hope Bye!

Hi Amber, I'm so sorry I'm late in replying to your note. It's been almost a week since I logged on as I've had family over from abroad. I've fallen behind on my notes as well as my reading which I'm really miffed about so I'm going to have to try and catch up somehow.

I hope you meet with success in your hunt for a job real soon. It's a bummer when nothing turns up. It must have been a dream when you were working at Waldenbooks. To be surrounded by so many books just waiting to be read? Sigh.....!

You know I'm amazed everytime I look in on your shelf over the books we have in common, its uncanny. We must have exactly the same taste. I've read a few Stephen King books although not IT. Actually my fear of clowns stems from the scene in Poltergeist where it grabs the little boy under the bed. (chuckle) I enjoyed Carrie, Dolores Claiborne and The Dead Zone. You are right about Pet Sematary being good too.

I've read the Blue Blood book so far and am on the last two chapters of the second one. I think the second one was an improvement. As the story progresses - new secrets are being revealed although what the big picture is i'm still not sure. I will let you know if the series is worth reading after I've finished reading book 3 and 4 although I've got to wait for the 3rd from the library. I'm going to read Dark Lover next. What are you reading now?

Hi Amber, hope you are well. Thank you for your book recommendations. I've added Weight of Silence to my wish list as it sounds really good. I enjoyed the Percy Jackson movie too as I'm into greek mythology - Medusa is my favourite as her story is quite tragic. I haven't read any of the book yet though. I'm glad that the books get older as they progress. I enjoyed the Vampires Assistant film too but haven't read the books. Have you?

I read Jessica Verday's The Hollow a couple of days ago - have you heard of it? I've started the Blue blood series and have almost finished reading the first book. I'm going to read J R Ward's Black Dagger series next. Have you read any of these?
