I have an enormous passion for books. I read devour collect many books. I have a personal collection of about 8000 items...lots of Literature, Management Spirituality and Education. These are the four major hubs of my reading and my work.

Due to the onslaught of the electronic media, it is often thought that we can (or someday will) do without books. I think that is absurd. The consciousness of reading ( processing of print by the mind) is very different from the way the mind processes images. The issue is that we are talking about two very different things.

Recently I have come to the conclusion that unless we teach the young the pleasures of reading, the battle against the electronic media is lost... especially in the third world where levels of literacy are very low and the attraction of images and fantasy is (naturally) quite high! « less
