Hello,
Dracula: Hearts of Stone
We start with a shiny new pot of boiling water and add too many evil vampires, and not enough of the good biters. Toss in one suicidal Dracula; add a cup of mayhem and a dash of romance. Oh yes, and a pinch of mirth. Stir lovingly and you have a novel by A. J. Gallant. If it sounds like the recipe for you then you must read Dracula: Hearts of Stone.

Unrealistic or not my writing gives me hope. But with something like 50 000 books published a month it is a little discouraging. I can just picture my book underneath that pile being crushed. I didn’t think there were that many writers out there. Must be a factory out there producing them like peanut butter cookies.

I think that even when I turn thirty I could still read those Harry Potter books...=)
Good luck for your exams.^^
I've definitely enjoyed some of the Steel novels...especially those about the war...i don't remember which ones though.
I am currently re-reading the complete Harry Potter series. I'm loving it!
I've also become particularly fond of classics lately.
I used to read lots of Danielle Steel a long time ago...I reckon that it is romance.
:)
I love reading any genre that comes my way. But I admit liking fantasy much more that any other genre.
How about you?
I'll send you a private message to answer your last question.
Sure, I would love to be friends! I should warn you though, I don't get on Shelfari all that much, I keep forgetting to update it all!
I just tried to add you on FB, but I didn't succeed, I don't know is it because of your security settings or am I just clumsy, but maybe you'll have more luck adding me ;)
Yes, that's me (and my sister) :) I actually found you in the Jammie's list of friends on FB.
People react similarly when I say how old I am, they go like 'Seriously?', but they think I'm younger, not older, always the same 'I thought you were sixteen...' -.- Well, at least they don't think I'm thirteen...:)
I don't think it's a bad thing you're a Muslim. I sometimes face the similar problem, when I say I'm a Serb. People immediately think it's a bad thing because of some things in past. I know it's not really the same thing, but I can relate to some level... I don't think people's opinions about other people should be based on the actions of some individuals....
I don't mind you asking :D I'm Orthodox Christian. The first time Christianity split two religions were born (I don't know how to explain it better) - Catholicism and Orthodoxy. Now most of the Western countries are Catholic. There are couple of differences, but the basics are the same - God's son Jesus, and so on. One of the reasons they are separate religions is because of the calender. My church's calender is 13 days late. So for example today should be 29th December, by it. But of course in every day life, we use a regular calender. So my religion teaches about forgiveness and peace. Honestly, I think people need something to believe in, it makes life easier when it gets hard. So I mainly respect everybody who believes in peace. I know that sounds a bit hippie, but...:)
I read what you wrote to Jammie about Islam. Personally, I know just a little about Islam, but I respect people's beliefs.
Honestly, I always wanted to meet somebody of the different culture, and I'm very curious about...everything, I'll probably ask you a ton of questions :D please don't mind :D
Now I envy you on your book collection :) although I'm sorry your mom took away so many of your books :( And most of my books are also e-books! I started reading e-books two years ago, when my parents cut my budget for real books :)
That sounds so much like what me and my mom used to do! She always read books to me, but even when I learned to read on my own, I still made her read to me, until she got sick of it :D My sister, on the contrary, didn't like to listen when somebody read to her, she was more into tearing the pages, she destroyed many books. But now she likes reading too :)
So you're go to college? That's awesome! How does it work? Is everybody in your classes older then you, or are there more people your age? I know about IGCSE, but I've heard about it because of some schools in England, I'm not really sure if there's something like that in my country...
I thought you might not know where Serbia is. Not many people do, it's quite small... Honestly, geography is nowhere near my favorite subject, but I had a strict teacher, so I had to know it :) But as for the current affairs, as you say, I might as well live on Mars. I'm not really up to date, I'm kinda lost in my own world.
I never moved, I was born, raised and I still live here in Serbia. Which country do you like best, India or Saudi Arabia, if you don't mind me asking?
I have an FB account, but I'm not sure if you'll be able to find me, because my real name is a little complicated. It's under Jovanka Vladejic. But I think I found you. Is your account under Aayesha Khatri?
So geeked...just got back from thrifting and got new books!!! pet semetray, secret circle and private!
You're seventeen? :) I just turned eighteen, I was born in 1994, are we the same generation? :)
I saw your book shelf, and I couldn't believe how many books you read. I know just one more person (my age) that reads as much as me, but my problem is that most of the books I read are borrowed from the library. So I always feel sad I don't actually own those books. Plus now I can't remember the names of all the books I've read. -.- Really silly... But my parents say I already spend too much money on books, and my friends say I have the biggest collection they've seen outside of library. I don't get that, person can never have enough books. My collection isn't that big anyway...:)
And I'm always competing with my mom in reading, but she always beats me, she has read, I don't know how many books. I think it's because of her that I like reading this much :)
I'm going to high school, I'm third year. How about you? I'm still indecisive about what I would like to major in, but I'm thinking about medicine.
I'm actually from a very small country in Europe. It's called Serbia. I can't ask where you're from because I saw it in your information...:D
The book's name is 'River's end', I've also read few of her books, but she has so many of them, I'm not even close to reading them all :)
I don't mind you asking, I'm 18 :)
How old are you?
Well c'mon who wouldn't like him? :) I actually like another character from Nora Robert's other book, his name is Noah, and I'm a bit indecisive which one I like more. :) But honestly, my friends won't listen to me anymore when I talk about characters. If the guy isn't real, they don't wonna hear about him...:D
Hi! I love 'In Death'! :) I've read them couple of times, I just love to re-read :) Roarke's awesome :3 I love his character...
I got your private message through my email but didnt know how to response to it. Yes I have a FB. It's under Jammie Brimmer. It has the same profile pic as this one. It doesnt change my veiws. I understand there were a few idiots who took things too far, I also understand not all Islams or Muslims are that way. You can also email. I enjoy talking with you. JBrimmer85@gmail.com. I used to work ALOT lol. I worked in a doctors office for a while and a bitter ex friend kinda ruined it for me.
Celeb crushes heeheehee. My list is forever a mile long if not longer. I tell Darrin all the time Id leave him if I ever met Justin Timberlake. He laughs and says Justin wouldnt put up with my shopping habits lol. We joke each one of my boys have a different celeb dad. Charlie's dad is Justin, Dj's dad is either Chad Michael Murray or Ben McKenize (The OC, most dont know who he is), and Marions is Darren Criss (Blaine on Glee).
Thats interesting about your Prophet. I am not a very religious person. So I am really open minded when it comes to others religion. I went to a christian church when I was a child. And as I grew older I started questioning things and then I looked into Paganism. And I really like it but there are parts of it I question so yeah....
I have the opposite issue with my inlaws. They think I should work as well. They always say "It takes two to care for a family." They really look down on my mom for not marrying and having two children out of marriage. They claim to be religious but are really just hypocrits. Lets get drunk and cuss and fight on saturday and then sunday we will go to church balance our check books because we are bored and all sins are forgiven. His mom is also jealous that my mom raised me as well as she has and worked and I never wanted for anything. She thinks my mom raised us on welfare but didnt. We lived in a low income apartment/townhouse but it was the nicer one in our area. All the others were run down and drug infested ours wasnt. It was in a decent school district, actually the best district in our town. But anywhooo, yeah email me. It goes straight to my phone and I can email you back faster.
I get that. I am interested in other cultures as well. I have never really known anyone in the same culture as you. I mean Darrin and I have worked for a few Indians but the one I worked for was a jerk so I never took time to know them. But Darrin works gas stations and the ones he has worked for is all Indian owned and he gets to know alot about them. Pretty much all I know is what he has told me or what I have seen on Degrassi, I dont know if you know what that is but its a tv show out of Canada that deals with teen drama or The Big Bang Theory, and I think thats more blow out for comdic effect.
I think I would have gone nuts if I had to go to an all girl school or do the arranged marriage. I was and still am actually way too boy crazy. Lol. The craziness is now mostly celebs but Darrin thinks its funny. How does the whole arranged marriage work? You know now that I think about it I havent really met anyone of any different cultures. We had the forgein exchange program in my high school but the few we had were either older or younger the 2 girls we had were really snobby and the 2 guys were cool but I only ever talked to them once or twice because they were friends of an friend. I wasnt too popular in high school. Had a few friends but mostly keep to myself.
I was raised by a single mother, my father left her before they even knew about me. His mother knew and told him but he never came around. He was in prison from the time I was 18months til I was 9. I have an older brother and sister. A niece and 2 nephews. They live in another state so I rarely get to see them. But please dont think of all those statisics that you most likely have heard. I have never been in any trouble in my life except being pregnant by a no good loser. I stay at home and take care of the boys. Darrin works 2 jobs to take care of us. We do live with my mom but its temporary. We are actually getting ready to move out soon. My mom and I are very close. She worked hard all my life to make sure my little brother and I were cared for. She had a lot of help from my grandma and my uncle but they both passed away in 09. But did most of everything on her own.
I was actually 19 when I got pregnant with Charlie. His father left and we really could careless if he ever came back pretty much. Darrin and I met when I was 20 and Charlie was 6 or 7 months. We worked together at Subway. Met in July started dating in October. I just turned 26 in December. I found out I was pregnant with Dj the following May, had him in January of 08 and then found out I was pregnant with Marion in March of 2010.
Most people do lol. Charlie is 5, he started Kindergarten this year. He loves school and loves to read, well be read too. He is my OCD baby. He has to change the batteries in everything everyday, his hands have to be cleaned after everything he touches so he loves santizer lol, his shirt can not be wet, sox have to on straight and can twist in his shoes and hes ADHD, which probably says a whole lot lol. Dj is going to be 4 on the 24th. He is in half day headstart, I tell everyone he is 4 going on 40. He talks like an adult and loves superheros. Then there is my little man, Marion James. He will be 10 weeks tomorrow and is the perfect little baby. Doesnt cry much, very happy. He loves Glee....well mostly the Walbers cd. I watched way too much Glee when I was pregnant with him so its like a comforting sound to him as well as me yelling at his dad or the boys. Charlies just getting into video games which is good for ADHD, helps him sit still and focus on something. Dj is Captain Destruco. If it can be broken Dj will find a way to break it. It makes me crazy. He spends alot of his time in timeout. I tried reading Harry Potter to them because Dj likes witches but it didnt go as well as I wanted it too. I think I started out too big. So I am getting the Roald Dalh books and see how that goes cause I didnt know it but alot of show I liked when I was little he wrote. I knew about Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. But I used to watch The BFG on Disney and the Witches and my little brother James used to love James and The Giant Peach.
Hi Aayesha! Classics are amazing, aren't they? I think I like them more than modern books most of the time haha. What are your favorite Austen books? Mine are Mansfield Park and Pride & Prejudice :)
