Born in the cotton fields of Arkansas and grew up there until my Mother remarried after the death of my father when I was eleven. She took me to California when I was sixteen, where I mostly lived for the next thirty-three years. My married my third wife Sammi and I now have seven children and 22 grandchildren.
My Wife Sammi was the one that pushed me to finally try to publish my books that I had written at the time. Lightning in the Tunnel series started out as just three books, but I had to split it up to get them published. They were three large volumes. Hence, there are nine books in the series. She is my greatest fan and my biggest critic! I owe my attempt at a writing career to her even though we both are still just learning this business.
Spent thirty years in Metal Industry mostly as Manager, Plant Manager and etc.
Started seriously writing my first book in 1987 just as a hobby because I loved to write.
I got the idea for for my Lightning in the Tunnel series having lived through the LA riots and seeing how people acted. I wondered what they would do if a nuclear bomb ever hit LA, that was where the series was born. I have a habit of writing three books at a time so that led me to branch out to other stories.
While writing " A Need for Lightning" I was at a crossroads on ending the series or not. Then I came up with an idea how to extend it one more book, add Aliens to the series. While writing it, I jumped off and wrote "A Stranger Comes Crawling" about an Alien coming to Earth. Like I said I work on three books at a time, I jumped off and wrote "T.T. Gristman" a romance/adventure with a twist.
With those two published and "A Need for Lightning" in editing right now, I'm writng three other Books, "Brandi's Nightmare" my first attempt at writing a mystery. It will be out early in 2013. My next book is "Chronicles of the Marauder" because I enjoy writing SiFi books, having finished my dystopia series "Lightning in the Tunnel" Another SiFi I'm working on is called "The Planet of the Midnight Mist" what is unique about this book is the humans are the Aliens!
Will begin hosting on blogtalk radio in the near future, just learning the ins and outs of being a host. Something besides writing to get involved in since I retired!
My show will be called "George's write shop" covering different items. The first one will be about preparing to survive. What everyone should do to help themselves should a disaster strike. I feel everyone should have an emergency kit and follow these simple steps. (Even though the steps themselves can be very involved)
1. Make a plan! Decide what kind of event you are preparing to survive for! Who you want with you, and how to connect if seperated at the time of the event. Where you plan to do this? And for how long?
2.Make preparations! Get the supplies you feel you need based on your plan. Pay close attention to expiration dates and have a test run using the supplies so they are not wasted!
3. Comunicate with everyone involved so they all know what to do when this event occurs. Check with your local authorities on what their plan is if this event occurs. It could be a great resource for you!
4. Training, make sure everyone is trained to know what they are to do, where they are expected to be, and re-enforce the training frequently with trial runs so no one forgets.
5. Revisit your plan frequently to cover any changes in your life for those in the plan that you expect to be with you! Re-plan each time something changes in your life!
