It was hard to get throught this.
I bought it because I absolutely loved Lisa Lutz's Spellman series and was intrigued that she would co-author a mystery with an ex-boyfriend.
It started off okay, but the constant back and forth between the authors and the feeling of 'going nowhere' made it a hard book to finish.
Both authors seemed highly conceited. I had never thought of Lutz that way...I seriously belive that David brought the worst out in her and it's probably a good thing that they are no longer together.
I actually started feeling sorry for the characters in the story. I don't feel like any of them were able to be developed to their fullest potential. I also hated some of David's charaters and didn't understand why he kept adding more of them. His vocab was annoying to me, as it was to Lutz, because she was right when she said it was a genre. Respect it! We are not stupid people...we read this genre to escape. There was no need to slap us in the face with what he considered his own superiority.
FYI...No one won. Especially, not me. I spent $11.99 on this...

However, I still look forward to any and all Spellman novels that will hopefully come out in the future. You'll note that I rated all of them very highly. Lutz should have done this on her own.(less)

There were parts that were very funny, but I still say Hot Six and Twelve Sharp are my favorites in this series. I like it better than Fourteen!

I usually rank all her Plum series as a 5 star rating, but this time she only gets 3...If you are a Plum fan...no question, you have to read this one. I did find it a bit disappointing - I feel like Evanovich bare bones'd the book a bit. I sort of feel like there will be another "between the numbers" book coming because there was something that was left open in this book, which is why it was so disappointing to me. She also lacked a lot of her usual details. It felt like she reverted back to her pre-Plum romance novel style. Don't get me wrong - I love Evanovich's Plum series so much that I will read whatever she writes.

I really enjoyed this book - I think it was well written and the characters were really well developed. Everyone had a very distinct personality and I felt like all the characters were genuine and realistic. I also liked the way the book did not have a typical (and unrealistic) happy ending - it was more of a correct ending. I would definitely read another book by this author.

I couldn't stand this book, but I had to read it for my book club. It was uneventful and boring. I felt like nothing really happened and nothing was competely resolved. I hardly ever rate a book so low...this one just wasn't for me.

I loved it and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. There are so many similarities to Evanovich's characters in her different series...but, they are also different. I think it makes Evanovich an excellent author and keeps me reading all of her stuff.

This book really spoke to me. I loved her writing style and her experiences. I really think Elizabeth is brave and I loved her passage about the common meaning of the word "selfish" - it really opened my eyes. And I would love to get some of that pizza!

Very funny. I really like Barny - she is smart and knows herself really well. I also like seeing a strong women character in a man's world. The side characters are a little crazy and I wouldn't mind knowing them in person!
