The book is well written and interesting. There is an aspect of distress for the Afghan people and concern that the morass of terror and corruption is never ending or all encompassing ... but there is also a glimpse of brighter days and the constant struggle through the reality of what is for the vision of what ought to be ... we better understand it since we are there for the near future ...

It is fairly written, but the story is so familiar, only difference is... it is Afghanistan. OK you should try it. Try this one "The Death of Bunny Munro" Nick Cave. It is explicit. Downfall of a sex obsessed man.

Sylvia, I think that's an excellent book. I don't read many novels, but I really enjoyed this one. It provides a glimpse of Afghan society that's interesting, and at times somewhat "offputting," But the narrative is highly interesting, and one that keeps moving. Enjoy, KS

Hi Sylvia, I am reading a really good book right now that I would like to recommend to you. It is called "Mercy" by Jodi Picoult. It is really good. I would also like to recommend Amy Tan's books, "The Bonesetter's Daugter," "The Kitchen God's Wife," and "The Joy Luck Club."
