A loner, often lonely. I love classical music, but also blues, jazz and musical comedy. I am, by First World standards, quite poor, so in the last 20 years my reading has been limited by considerations of time and economics (books are expensive!). But when I can, I like reading historical novels, fantastic tales (Tolkien is a favourite),... more »

Un comentario desde Tucumán, Mónica. Espero que ya hayas podido volver a criar tus perritos. Parece que somos las dos únicas norteñas inscriptas en Shelfari. Espero que se sumen más lectores. Muchos saludos!

    Monica,
Are you there? I had vanished due to some upsurge in life, which I couldn't handle too well. Ours is a third world country too. I haven't been able to afford a book for months now -I beg borrow or devise means to procure books anyhow to feed my soul! I don't steal, by the way.
    How are you?

Monica, that was a lovely note, I think it would be very very interesting to hold a dialogue with you on the views you have expressed with crystal clear lucidity... I agree with your obervation on the social behavior of the homo sapiens. But I am totally obsessed with this unceasing ' war' which is a direct outcome of the instinct to preserve one's territory, culture, values, and more depressingly one's religion or ideology. There are 147 wars raging today, small and big, on this beautiful planet. Aren't the nations that manufacture and sell the weapons responsible? Landmines are particularly sadistic examples which maim the innocent, worse the chemical weapons. What's your take on increasing sophistication being used to snuff out the opponents? Do you see where we are headed?
