Thank you, Mariyadm!Even a tiny grain of sand can be fundamental in building a castle :)Salamat, Khoda hafez, ciao :)
Salam,I clicked to follow you because we are going to create a group in Shelfari to discuss editing Indo-Iranian books and authors, and see how we can help people who edit in those languages. You and your friends will be welcome to join us, if you wish. I'm a Spanish linguist speaking Arabic (not Urdu or Farsi, but at least I am acquainted with the script) and the other administrator will be Negar, a linguist from Iran. I saw you through one of your edits (Akhari Chattan). I knew Iranians in Shelfari, but I had not seen Urdu speakers in this community before. By the way, Urdu is one of the languages of Lisbon, where I live (few Pakistanese here, but quite a lot of Indian Urdu speakers).Nice to meet you!César
Asalam Alaikum The voting time is up and the book choosen is Ghulam Bagh by Mirza Athar Baig. So hurry up get your copies everyone. I am setting date for discussion of book one month from now (that should roughly make it 10th of January). That should be enough time for every one to get the book and read it. So be ready for hearty healthy discussion on Ghulam Bagh next month. I will initiate a now discussion post labeled Ghulam bagh where can talk about the book and I will send every one reminders well ahead in time. Happy reading everyone Sonia
Asalam Alikum MembersThe deadline for recommending urdu books to read is over and three books have been suggested 1. Ghulam Baagh by Mirza Athar Baig ( suggested by Umair Vahidy)2. Manchaley ka soda by Ashfaq Ahmad ( suggested by Yamna Rehman K)3. Dasht e Soos by Jamila Hashmi ( suggested by Farah Akhtar)Please vote for the book that you want to read in the discussion titled “voting for books”. Voting is open till 7th of December. Sonia
Asalam Alaikum I know it has been a long time since I have been on shelfari but life was just so busy lately (I am sure that is how it is with every one)I have been thinking that for some time “urdu books” have become rather inactive I think that we ought to do something to liven it up. I could not think of anything back than but I have an idea now I was once a member of another website that had a books lover’s page. Members would recommend a book and the whole group would go procure a copy. After a certain time which maybe a month or more (depending upon the size of the book) they would all come back and discuss the book as to how they found it , whether they liked it or not , what was lacking etc. So if you think you it is a good idea we could do something similar tooI will initiate a discussion titled “what books should we read?”Members are to leave their suggestions till 1st of December 2009 If there is more than one book we will vote for the one we want to read first. But remember, it is an urdu books group so the suggested titles have to be urdu. What do think?Should we do it?Sonia
Hello everyoneI have noticed that no one has been paying a visit to the “urdu books group” lately. If you can spare some time , I would like you all to go there so that we can make an active and live group of it once more. I dont know about yu but I enjoyed the discussions we used to have.Sonia

mariyadm, welcome to Theology Forum. I love your avatar. What a beautiful girl. I hope you will feel free to join and add to all discussions and not be intimidated by other members opinions. We welcome you to start new discussions and share your faith with us. God bless you, dtbrents
Dear Members ( Urdu Books)Salman K thinks that restricting discussion to three discussion topics only will stifle new ideas and members should be allowed to start new discussion if they want to.I respect Salman’s suggestion and you are at liberty to post any fresh discussion topic you want to. The option to join in any old discussion will always be there.Sonia
salaam and thanks for the invitation....
salam...thank you for adding me as your friend.
Assalamu Alaikum Sister, Thankyou for requesting my friendship list. I however recently deleted my whole list, except two who are in charge of a couple groups i am in. I dont come here often, and so I dont think it is fair of me to have a list of friends, which I may not be here to give proper attention too, or care. So I will leave it up to you, to decide to request it again or keep your list only with those who are regularly active here on shelfari. Thankyou again, Sister Ahdia
Asalam Aliakum I am your group administrator Sonia. I know this is going to be a long message but since this is the first time I am having any kind of communication with some of you please go through the entire length of it.First of all I am very happy to see that the group is growing. On behalf of all the old members I would like to welcome the new additions to the group. It would make me even happier if members became a little more active and interacted with one another more often.Shelfari is a good place as any to get to know each other but it is still being developed. There are several features (some of these I have even requested to the shelfari adminitrators) that I think need to be added to shelfari • Firstly there is no way to send a message to all members simultaneously, (I had to send copy of this message to each and every member individually)• Secondly you are not notified of new postings by members unless the new message is a reply to your own previously posted discussion.• Thirdly there are so few urdu books available on shelfari (hence the sorry state of our group shelf)But these are minor problems which will go away with time. For now I want to focus on increasing interaction between the members. For this I would like to make a suggestion. Instead of posting new discussions on shelfari, (which will only add to the clutter) why not reply to some existing discussion. Taking advantage of my post as administrator I have taken the liberty of choosing them for you. They are:• “Most famous books” started by MariyadmFor those who want to discuss their favorite books and why they like them. It would also serve as opportunity for you to recommend your favorite books to others• “Ashfaq ahemd” started by AnumThis discussion focuses on authors. Who is who’s favorite author and what makes him/her so special• “Couplet of the day” started by Salman KThis is for poetry lovers. For those who enjoy shairi and want to share it with others. Discussion on poets can also be included over here. For now we will concentrate on these. Once the topics are exhausted we will start new ones. Suggestions will always be welcome. You can even send them directly to me if you like. You are free to express your opinions, even disagree with someone else’s view as long as you do it in a polite and civilized way. Absolutely no abusive language please. I also have a suggestion for poetry contributors. Do not post lengthy poems. When we write in Roman Urdu (Urdu written with English alphabets) it sometimes becomes tiresome to read it if goes on for too long. But this is only a suggestion. If the poetry loving recipients have no objections then neither will I.I know you are all here because you love books and I think it is high time you shed your dormant roles and made your presence known. This is all I have to say for now.Hope to see you all soon in group discussions.Sonia Naveed
Sonia (administrator urdu books)I got your message and yes you are right . Many people have joined in but they hardly ever participate in anything. I think I am going to give them a nudge and then a warning . If that does not wake them up then I will have no choice but to remove the inactive members from the group.
