"Except a living man there is nothing more wonderful than a book, a message to us from the dead,... from human souls we never saw, who lived perhaps thousands of miles away. And yet these, in those little sheets of paper, speak to us, terrify us, teach us, comfort us, open their hearts to us as brothers." - Charles Kingsley

I noticed that you are going to read Spenser's "The Fairie Queene." You've inspired me to get a copy and read it too sometime soon. I have always had it in the back of my mind to read. I just finished "Beowulf" and what a great epic poem that was. Another really terrific book of epic poetry I just finished was J.R.R. Tolkien's new book, "The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun." Simply awesome, and includes two of Tolkien's interpretations of two old Icelandic Lays from the "Poetic Edda" (aka the "Elder Edda"). After you read Tolkien's poems, you'll see where a lot of his concepts for "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" comes from. I hope all is well with you and yours! Cheers! Chris

Hi there! Yes, I'm still reading it, I'm on chapter 27 now. I was waiting for Christopher to post the 3rd part and a few days ago I sent him a note to say I was ready to continue with the group discussion.

Thanks for your note! I'll do my best to finish the next group of chapters as soon as I can. Don't need to wait for me, if Christofer agrees you both can continue with the 3rd part and I'll catch up later..

Terrific! I surmise it may just be the two of us; but 'Hey' that's better than me talking to myself ;-) In fact, I was going to go back and update Part 3 of the "Mansfield Park" Group read and discussion thread. I'll look for you soon! Cheers! Chris
