    I finished The Clown by Heinrich Boll just yesterday. It was great! Did you ever read anything by Heinrich Boll?
    I really like this book; but don't read it now! It make me depressed!
    "So the wind won't Blow it all Away" by Richard Brautigan is fantastic! I have read this book during my military service! you don't have to spend a lot of time to reading this book and I bet you will enjoy it! ;)

    Yeah, I've got many favourites - almost as many as you :D

    The only field of literature that I know really well though, is science fiction. I've read many other things, but still almost half of the books I've read the last decade have been science fiction books.

    1984 is perhaps the most famous dystopia in literature. While Animal Farm is a critique/parody of russian communism, 1984 deals with a totalitarian state where surveillance is everywhere and personal freedoms are all but obliterated.

    1984 is (more than animal farm) a thrilling, but also chilling, read. I think it's a very important book. Orwell was in favor of democratic socialism, and I guess it shows in his writings. The perhaps scariest part is that after having read it, you notice every month things which governments around the world (including in Europe and Norway) do that seem as if they could've come from that dystopia.

    I don't know whether you've been watching the news on this particular topic. The day before yesterday, our president came forth and said that he will not seek re-election. I thought that was very good and that the protesters needed to go home. But yesterday morning, some of the so-called supporters of the president came out and brutally attacked the protesters. Apparently, all the speeches and so-called "reforms" being proposed are just political maneuvers to buy time. I honestly don't know who to believe anymore...

    Hello, Pink
    Sorry, no other books come to mind at the moment. I would highly recommend Cloud Atlas, though. It's made up of 6 different stories that take place in 6 different eras (starting from the 1800's up to the far future). The stories are all different (different subjects, genres and styles) but they're also all connected. One of the major themes of the book is humanity's great will to power and how the drive to gain power and use it drives people to do awful things. You can read more useful reviews of it on its page here in Shelfari.

    من کتاب هایی که دوست دارم بخونم یکیش آناکارنیناست که جلد یکش رو خوندم ولی فرصت نکردم بقیش رو بخونم
    که البته فکر می کنم خونده باشیش
    دوست دارم کتاب 1984 از جرج ارول رو بخونم
    کتاب دنیای سوفی
    کتاب جدید دن بران رو به اسم
    The Lost Symbol
    کتاب دو قرن سکوت
    کتاب چشمهایش از بزرگ علوی
    اینا کتابایی که دوست دارم بخونم ولی فرصتش رو فعلا ندارم!
    اما فکر می کنم که اگه کتاب "داوینچی کد" رو بخونی ازش خوشت بیاد
    در ضمن من کتاب قدرت اسطوره رو خیلی دوست داشتم. رمان نیست
    دوست دارم این کتاب رو یه بار دیگه بخونم
    حالا درباره کتاب باید بیشتر صحبت کنیم

    ادیسون در سنین پیری پس از كشف لامپ، یكی از ثروتمندان آمریكا به شمار میرفت و درآمد سرشارش را تمام و كمال در آزمایشگاه مجهزش كه ساختمان بزرگی بود هزینه می كرد... این آزمایشگاه، بزرگترین عشق پیرمرد بود. هر روز اختراعی جدید در آن شكل می گرفت تا آماده بهینه سازی و ورود به بازار شود.
    در همین روزها بود كه نیمه های شب از اداره آتش نشانی به پسر ادیسون اطلاع دادند، آزمایشگاه پدرش در آتش می سوزد و حقیقتا كاری از دست كسی بر نمی آید و تمام تلاش ماموان فقط برای جلوگیری از گسترش آتش به سایر ساختمانها است! آنها تقاضا داشتند كه موضوع به نحو قابل قبولی به اطلاع پیرمرد رسانده شود...
    پسر با خود اندیشید كه احتمالا پیرمرد با شنیدن این خبر سكته می كند و لذا از بیدار كردن او منصرف شد و خودش را به محل حادثه رساند و با کمال تعجب دید كه پیرمرد در مقابل ساختمان آزمایشگاه روی یك صندلی نشسته است و سوختن حاصل تمام عمرش را نظاره می كند!!! پسر تصمیم گرفت جلو نرود و پدر را آزار ندهد. او می اندیشید كه پدر در بدترین شرایط عمرش بسر می برد. ناگهان پدر سرش را برگرداند و پسر را دید و با صدای بلند و سر شار از شادی گفت: پسر تو اینجایی؟ می بینی چقدر زیباست؟!! رنگ آمیزی شعله ها را می بینی؟!! حیرت آور است!!!
    من فكر می كنم كه آن شعله های بنفش به علت سوختن گوگرد در كنار فسفر به وجود آمده است! وای! خدای من، خیلی زیباست! كاش مادرت هم اینجا بود و این منظره زیبا را می دید. كمتر كسی در طول عمرش امكان دیدن چنین منظره زیبایی را خواهد داشت! نظر تو چیست پسرم؟!! پسر حیران و گیج جواب داد: پدر تمام زندگیت در آتش می سوزد و تو از زیبایی رنگ شعله ها صحبت می كنی؟!!!!!! چطور میتوانی؟! من تمام بدنم می لرزد و تو خونسرد نشسته ای؟!
    پدر گفت: پسرم از دست من و تو كه كاری بر نمی آید. مامورین هم كه تمام تلاششان را می كنند. در این لحظه بهترین كار لذت بردن از منظره ایست كه دیگر تكرار نخواهد شد...! در مورد آزمایشگاه و باز سازی یا نو سازی آن فردا فكر می كنیم! الآن موقع این كار نیست! به شعله های زیبا نگاه كن كه دیگر چنین امكانی را نخواهی داشت!!توماس آلوا ادیسون سال بعد مجددا در آزمایشگاه جدیدش مشغول كار بود و همان سال یكی از بزرگترین اختراع بشریت یعنی ضبط صدا را تقدیم جهانیان نمود. آری او گرامافون را درست یك سال پس از آن واقعه اختراع کرد
